Black2Nature Tree Planting and Tree Care Events in the Chew Valley

When
Throughout the year. Transport and meals usually provided.

What
Black2Nature believe that everyone has a right to access nature and seek to provide opportunities for equal access for Visible Minority Ethnic (VME) young people. One way they do this is to provide opportunities to connect with nature, engage with the outdoors and get involved with tree planting and tree care in the Chew Valley.

How
If you would like to find out more about the events that Black2Nature regularly organise then please contact Ayesha on 07595295634 or email ayesha@black2nature.org

Upcoming Events

Great Avon Wood needs you!

Avon Needs Trees and Forest of Avon Trust are looking for volunteers to help plant and care for thousands of trees at Great Avon Wood, a new 100-acre woodland near Pensford.  Tree care is as important as tree planting and is vital to help the trees get established.  There are opportunities to volunteer throughout the year and it is a really beautiful site!

When: We have planting and tree care and conservation days.

What: Great Avon Wood will become a genuine community resource for local people to enjoy. The trees are being planted and cared for by a growing community of volunteers.

You can sign up at the volunteer portal:

Previous BART planting day

Volunteers of all ages working in the sunshine at a previous BART planting day

  • “I had a great time learning about Westfield Farm and didn’t know how much fun planting trees was”

    Feedback from our tree-planting volunteers

  • “I have not had much experience planting trees or getting to know how important wildlife is before, but after the great day spent planting trees at Westfield Farm, I now enjoy planting trees and flowers. It has enriched my confidence to grow my own plants and helped my knowledge of how important trees are to the environment.”

    Feedback from our tree-planting volunteers

  • “I had a lovely afternoon planting all the trees, the homemade apple cake and juice at the end were delicious too!”

    Feedback from our tree-planting volunteers

  • “I really enjoyed the tree planting. It was a great team bonding activity and I learnt a lot about how to plant trees. I enjoyed being outdoors and learning about Bryony’s farm too and how it has evolved over the years. Bryony was wonderful and I particularly enjoyed her delicious apple cake and juice.”

    Feedback from our tree-planting volunteers

  • “A great experience at a beautiful place. Bryony was very welcoming, I would love to do it again 😊”

    Feedback from our tree-planting volunteers

  • “I had such a nice time tree planting, Bryony made the experience fun and interesting by showing us around her beautiful farm and then showing us what needed to be done. It was a great activity to do as a group”

Trees Love Care

There’s a big emphasis on planting trees but it’s equally important to take care of the trees we have planted.

Routinely checking and maintaining trees we have put in the ground can help prevent damage that can come from the wind, rain and storms and wildlife such as badgers, deer and rabbits.
